Trade & Graduate
Tokens trade on their bonding curve until the curve sells out. The buy that crosses the line graduates the token - it moves to Uniswap with locked liquidity, instantly, in that same transaction.
Buying
Buying on the curve is simple: send ETH, get tokens, price moves up a little for the next buyer.
- Every trade pays a 1.5% fee on the ETH side, and 75% of it goes to the token's creator. If you were referred to Frontier, your referrer's slice comes out of the protocol's share - you never pay extra. See Fees & Revenue.
- The app shows you exactly how many tokens to expect and lets you set a minimum you'll accept. If the market moves too much before your transaction lands, the trade cancels instead of filling badly - you choose how strict to be.
- Near the end of the curve, quotes automatically account for the limited supply left, so you can't be promised tokens that aren't there.
Your first referred trade also links you to your referrer - once, permanently, and it never costs you anything.
Selling
Selling mirrors buying: you say how many tokens you're selling and the minimum ETH you'll accept. The same 1.5% fee comes out of your proceeds. If the curve can't deliver your minimum, the trade cancels.
Why you can't transfer yet
Until a token graduates, you can buy and sell on the curve - but you can't send tokens wallet-to-wallet, and nobody can burn them.
This is protection, not a limitation: it stops anyone from moving supply around to fake activity, dodge the curve through side deals, or manipulate the price before real liquidity exists. The moment the token graduates, every restriction lifts at once and it becomes a completely normal token.
Graduation
The instant a buy sells out the curve, graduation happens in that same transaction:
- The creator receives their 5% fee from the ETH raised.
- All the remaining ETH plus the reserved 300 million tokens become the token's Uniswap liquidity.
- The liquidity is locked permanently - see Liquidity & Graduation.
- Transfer restrictions lift. The token is free.
There is no gap between "sold out" and "live on Uniswap". No waiting for the team to add liquidity, no window where anyone can run off with the raise - the whole handover is a single atomic step that nobody can interfere with.
Graduating on purpose
Usually graduation just happens - someone's buy is big enough to cross the line. But there's nothing stopping you from doing it deliberately: buy exactly what's left on the curve, and you're the one who takes the token to Uniswap. The app shows you how much is left at any moment.
Keeping an eye on a token
Everything worth knowing is on the token's page at frontier.fun - price, market cap, progress toward graduation, holders, and recent trades. The Token Page walks through each panel.
