Staking vault
The staking vault receives the creator's side of the fees and pays it out to the people staking the coin. Holders stake the coin and receive part of the creator's fee income, from the moment the coin has a pool: at graduation, or at birth for a directly seeded coin. A coin either has a vault or it does not: like every other block, it is chosen at creation and cannot be added later.
What stakers receive

Both sides come from the creator's own share of the fees, for the percentage the creator set at creation. Staking costs traders nothing and creates no new supply.
The ETH side includes a share of what the coin's locked liquidity collects, not only the per-swap payout. On a coin with a vault, stakers earn from every part of the coin's fee income.
Staking
Deposit the coin and receive staked coins in return, named Staked <name>, so staking MOON returns stMOON. The staked balance is the receipt: it grows in value as fees arrive and is handed back on exit.
Withdrawing
Withdrawals are not instant, so nobody can stake as a fee wave lands, take the rewards and leave.
- Request. That portion leaves the vault and stops earning immediately.
- Wait. The cooldown is currently one day for new vaults and can never exceed 90 days, a ceiling written in the contract.
- Withdraw. Collect the coins to any wallet.
Requesting again while a withdrawal is pending merges the amounts and restarts the clock. Unclaimed ETH is never affected by entering, exiting or transferring staked coins.
What the protocol team can do
Two things: adjust the cooldown length, never above 90 days and never affecting a withdrawal already in progress, and rescue coins sent to the vault address by mistake, except the staked coin and the reward ETH, which cannot be touched.
There is no pause, no way to mint staked coins, no way to redirect the vault's income, and no admin path to anyone's stake.
